I worked with Betty at YESCO and Lodewyck Sign. She was trained at Art Institute in L.A. and worked with designers trained for Disney. She was one of a kind as we're many other sign designers of the neon golden age. Guys like Buzz Leming, Rudy Crisostomo, Jimmy Dix, Chuck Barnard and Danny Edward's just to scim the cream off the top. There were tons of talented designers. Most are gone without any recognition. Yet without them, Vegas would have Never existed.
I love this story, I’ve been seeing this sign since 1975. One year for Christmas I sent all five of my brothers a small replica of the sign that lights up for Christmas. They live in Texas.
